Although not in school environment this project involved many of the same issues that would occur in a live school environment the project values are similar, and the Pier contract was on a tighter timescale.
This project involved the demolition of the existing pier head widening and the installation of ramps, concrete slabs, repairs and refurbishment and installation of historical balustrades etc.
The Majority of the Pier was kept open for the duration of these works, we carefully planned the placement of site Heras fencing and the access and egress routes for plant and materials etc. To not impact the public, we went so far as to bring most of the materials and machinery to the site via a barge meaning the pier could stay open for longer. Heavy plant that was required was planned out of the Torbay’s busy times (Holidays) to minimise impact.
